06 Jun Beaufort Code - Update
The Beaufort Port Royal Metropolitan Planning Commission and the City Council held multiple public hearings on the proposed Beaufort Code. Stakeholders have spent hundreds of hours meeting with staff incorporating suggestions and council has begun our review of all revisions. At tonight’s work session we will continue our work.
Meanwhile a team of stakeholders, including specialists and residents, are in the process of “field testing” the code on projects that have been completed or are currently underway. The goal is to ensure the code is clear and makes our processes more predictable and easier for residents to work with.
We anticipate first reading of the code in June and for the code to become law in July. If you have outstanding questions come to the work session tonight or subsequent work sessions.
